Meet Avian
I’m Avian King — yes, like a bird.
I’m the founder and heart of The Summerland, and I’ve spent the last twenty years working at the intersection of beauty, movement, and healing.
I’m a West Seattle-based hairstylist, ritualist, yoga teacher, sound healer, and lifelong seeker of what’s real. My work is grounded in craft and guided by intuition — shaped by experience, not trends.
I’ve worked from New York City to Los Angeles, and across the globe — in salons, backstage, on red carpets, and editorial shoots. But my most meaningful work happens in intimate spaces.
Behind the chair. In stillness. In movement. In ceremony.
In the quiet moments when the mask drops and something true comes forward.
I built The Summerland because I needed a space like this — and I knew I wasn’t the only one.
It’s a place to breathe. To shed. To return.
Whether you come in for a ritual, a haircut, a class, or something in between, you’ll be met with presence, not performance. I take this work seriously, and I hold it with care.
This is space to reclaim what’s yours.
Not to become someone new — but to come back to yourself.

About the Studio
The Summerland is a modern, intimate wellness studio designed for people walking through change—grief, growth, identity shifts, energetic burnout, or simply the desire to return to themselves.
The name comes from Pagan and Wiccan traditions.
The Summerland is a spiritual afterlife—a space of rest, reflection, and healing before the soul is reborn.
That’s the energy we channel here.
Whether you're coming in for a ritual haircut, a classic haircut with energy clearing, a sound bath, or a vinyasa yoga class, everything in the space is offered with intention.
Services include:
Ritual Haircuts: ceremonial hair services designed for transitions like grief, breakups, new beginnings, or identity reclamation
Classic Haircuts: beautiful, intentional cuts with the option to include energy work (Reiki, sound, or breath)
Yoga Classes: vinyasa-based movement ranging from powerful to restorative
Sound Baths & Energy Healing: small group or 1:1 sessions using vibration and intuitive care
Private Ceremonies: for those seeking custom ritual, clearing, or integration support
The Studio:

Right now, The Summerland is a one-woman space, but it won’t stay that way forever.
In the future, other teachers and practitioners will be invited in—carefully, intentionally, and with the same devotion to soul-aligned service.
